Sad Farewell to Roger Davis
(past TADSA Volunteer Project Manager/Co-ordinator 1989-2006)
We are sad to say that our good friend and former TADSA Project Manager Roger Davis passed away last Sunday. He remained positive and determined following his stroke back in 2006, spending the last few years in a residential care facility. He was quite content in his new home and managed to continue joining us for our regular special TADSA lunches. Roger will be missed by all who knew him.
Roger had great empathy for people with disabilities. He spent nearly 17 years of dedicated time as TADSA Volunteer Project Manager (Co-ordinator). During this time he co-ordinated (and in many cases designed) over 2,500 projects. Roger will be remembered by us as a true gentleman who showed so much kindness to many, many people. He will remain a great inspiration. Our lives are enriched by having been a part of Roger's life.
(Roger's funeral will be conducted next Wednesday. Please phone TADSA if you would like further details)
Vale Roger.

TADSA spent some time last year co-ordinating visits and talks to the Victor Harbor/Goolwa region to try to set up better liaison to help people with disabilities in this area. As a result we are pleased to introduce Andie (Goolwa resident since 1995) and Dean (Victor Harbor resident since 2002).
New Technical Member Andie sees the Fleurieu as a district of much diversity of population and a high number of elderly residents and he states "the potential for the development of support services such as TADSA is ripe and the need for community awareness of the availability of such resources is overdue".
Andie is available to provide Public Relations/Liaison services between the local community and TADSA in the future.

New Technical Member Dean's working background includes an apprenticeship in Fitting & Turning, then 18 years in a Foundry (pattern & tool making). Dean then moved on to forming his own engineering business. Dean's personal involvement with disability gave him the desire, given his background as an Engineer and having a reasonably well equipped workshop, to become our TADSA volunteer to co-ordinate projects in the Southern area. "We have been blessed with lots of care and help, so this is my opportunity to give something back to others. It's all about making life a little easier and safer for people with disabilities."

TADSA recognises the incredible contributions of all our members, but especially this group who have collectively contributed over 200 years of continuous volunteer time with TADSA helping people with disabilities. Added to this group is staff member Julie Peak, (TADSA Office Manager) who has also reached the 20+ year milestone, giving a collective total of over 220 years of continuous TADSA service. Quite an impressive statistic!

The first Volunteer Luncheon was held today (18th May) at the Sussex Hotel, Walkerville Terrace, Walkerville. This was a very successful day, with 21 volunteers attending plus the Project Manager, Travis James.
As a special addition to the day, Chairman Richard Jackson presented Certificates of Appreciation for 3+ Years of continual volunteer TADSA service to Les Loffler, Denis McGovern, Rudolf Danz and Dave Jenkins.
These photos show a happy group, with much chatter going on. A great opportunity to discuss projects and catch up with other technical members.
If you missed this luncheon, there will be another one toward the end of the year.
