Phenylalanine causes the release of cholecystokinin that controls appetite. Phenylalanine is a precursor for the neurotransmitters dopamine and noradrenaline. Levels of these neurotransmitters in the brain are increased by phenylalanine supplementation. These particular neurotransmitters are associated with mood, memory, alertness and concentration.
