John, one of our talented experts in ‘modifications of all sorts’ made this bed cradle for a client who lives with a spinal cord injury (quadriplegia). Unable to move and with multiple pressure injuries he required a special device to hold his bedding off his feet. Since he is also very tall, John made sure that this modification did not add more pressure to the soles of his feet. The main hoop part of the cradle (which comes in contact with the bed linen) was made with stainless steel while the brackets attaching the cradle to the bed are painted mild steel. The lower frame slides underneath the mattress, securing the cradle to the bed, while the upper frame is positioned horizontally over the lower limbs. The bed cradle is easily removable and can be adjusted to height requirements when the client’s care team is in action.
