When Bill wanted to play bowls while using his walker, he had to make sure the walker did not cause undue damage to the green and complied with Bowls SA requirements. To comply, his walker had to have wheels of 45mm and which were smooth and without tread.
He contacted TADSA and after discussion with Project Coordinator Ralph it was determined that as Bill was planning on purchasing a new walker, Ralph would identify the model best suited for modification.
Once the walker was purchased, volunteer Michael got to work, machining the wheels so they complied with policies of Bowls SA.
Other modifications to walkers have been completed for other clients and new devices made to enable them to play lawn bowls.
