About TADSA21/07/2023Tracey

About this opportunity

As a Freedom Wheels Inclusion Classic Volunteer, you’ll be part of the fun and play a vital role in helping us make the event a success.

There are many volunteer roles needed including some leading up to the event, and we’ll tailor a role to suit you – registration before the walk, looking after a BBQ, refreshment or first aid station, being a hazard and safety Marshall or pre-packing our participants’ merchandise kits.

Be available for a minimum three-hour shift on Saturday 02 December 2023. The start and finish times is outlined for each role. A briefing session will be organised beforehand (date and time TBC).

Please note that for safety requirements, you will need a mobile phone so we can connect with each other easily. You will be respectful, energetic, reliable, and committed to ensuring a fun and safe event for everyone. You will require a Working with Children’s Clearance and this can be organised by TADSA at no cost to you.

About TADSA

At TADSA (Technology for Ageing and Disability South Australia) we love being first. The first to design a prototype or preliminary version of a device, piece of equipment or solution to meet an individuals expressed needs to improve independence, autonomy, and inclusion. That’s why we want to be first this year to honour and acknowledge International Day of People with Disability by hosting the first-ever Freedom Wheels Inclusion Classic.

The Event

The Freedom Wheels Inclusion Classic is a ‘walk-ride-or roll’ to help kids, adults and seniors living with a disability to experience freedom of movement and inclusion, sometimes for the first time.

Participants choose if they want to walk, ride, run or roll around TTG’s beautiful Civic Park. We are encouraging family and friends to join in as an individual, a family, a club, or a team and together help break down the barriers and promote greater awareness, understanding and inclusion that will change the lives of over 350,000 South Australians living with disability and age-related challenges to mobility, access, and participation in community.

Our range of modified bikes and trikes will be available for children and adults who require assistance to participate or bring along your own bike, trike, skates/skateboard, rollerblades, wheelchair, or scooter and roll away to your hearts content.

By volunteering at the first-ever Freedom Wheels Inclusion Classic you are helping to provide support, education, and encouragement to those living with mobility related challenges and are sending a message that exclusion on the basis of disability is not ok.

  • Fully accessible to wheelchair users
  • Room for people to move around freely and enjoy the celebrations
  • Walk-Ride-or Roll or stay and enjoy refreshments, fun and games
  • This event is free and open to everyone.

It promises to be a community event to remember. At the end of the walk, ride and roll all participants are invited to enjoy a free sausage sizzle and refreshments and entertainment.  There will be prizes and give-aways and opportunities to relax and connect with family and friends.
