Olivia works in packing. She came to us seeking a solution to assist her to be able to work smarter, faster, and more efficiently. The problem was in holding the bag open so she could then insert goods.
TADSA technical volunteer John came up with a brilliant idea where he made a simple device using a lever mechanism to hold the bag open. Engineers use the ‘magic’ of the lever to skilfully magnify the force applied to an object so that it can be operated with minimal manual force.
John with his expertise in mechanical engineering then modified this apparatus a bit further by adding a foot pedal and a funnel to help the machine stay open (and then to close as required) while Olivia does her good deeds and bundle-ups!
