What an incredible day we had together at the first ever Freedom Wheels Inclusion Classic, a walk-ride-roll around Civic Park, Modbury to acknowledge and celebrate International Day of People with Disabilities. This year’s theme resonated loudly with TADSA’s vision and mission: Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world. We came together to celebrate all that makes us different and unique but more importantly our shared humanity. The simple act of including someone cannot be underestimated. Feeling that you belong, that you are respected as an individual and valued for your difference is a hugely powerful act. It is kindness in action and compassion personified. When all people are included in all aspects of society, we are more likely to see the person first, not their difference.
TADSA Patron, Ms Libby Kosmala OAM represented Australia at twelve Paralympics from 1972 to 2016, and won thirteen medals, nine of them gold spoke of the importance of access to sport for all people regardless of limitation in her opening address, and how her participation took her (and her custom built shooting table) all around the world.
We could not have done it without the amazing support of the TADSA faimly. Sincere thanks to Gary & Kerrie Lang, Glen Kammerman, Ken Lawson, Theo Van Deventer, Neil & Trish Pokoney, Trevor and Lorraine Scwhartz, Ralph Drage, John Stevens, Rosemary Padmanabhan and our new Event Volunteers, Sea Huan Wong, Hayden McKessner, Mason Nguyen, Tasmia Nur, Tahsina Billah, Corey Hooper, Madison Lambert, Maryam Alizada, and Vincent Wang.
