At TADSA we rely on volunteer makers – that’s creative people with technical skills and experience to design and build fit for life solutions to aid independence. We call this Assistive Technology.
TADSA was an active participant at the Strathalbyn Neighbourhood Centre (NC) Open Day. Volunteer Makers Trish and Neil Pokoney represented TADSA reaching out to community organizations and visitors to raise awareness of what TADSA volunteer makers do best; custom make or modify equipment, furniture, utensils and much more to help the community at large live an independent a life as possible.
Federal Member for Mayo, Rebekha Sharkie was super interested to know more about this long established South Australian organisation of volunteers who have been giving their time and skills providing technical aid to the challenges of disability and ageing since 1978.
Neil and Trish also spoke to several networking groups in the area highlighting our need for more technical volunteer makers to help us meet demand for our customisation services.
If you have time to spare and skills to share, might you consider becoming a TADSA technical volunteer maker? Inquire online https://tadsa.org.au/referral-form/ or call Ralph 8261 2922 to find out how you can help.
