In response to the client’s requirement for a coupling or hitch to attach a four-wheeled trolley or trailer to his wheelchair, technical member, Glen, proposed an innovative solution that prioritizes both functionality and ease of use. The design involves creating a frame that is securely attached to the existing mounting points on the wheelchair.

To facilitate the attachment of the trailer, we implemented a spring-loaded coupling mechanism utilizing PVC gate hinges. This system will incorporate sculptured hooks designed specifically to engage with the trailer handle, ensuring a reliable connection. The spring-loaded feature will allow for an intuitive engage/disengage function, enabling users to connect and disconnect the trailer with minimal effort.

Furthermore, this solution is designed for easy removal when not in use, enhancing convenience and maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the wheelchair. By integrating these elements into a cohesive design, we provided a practical solution that meets the client’s needs while promoting independence and mobility.
