Digital and Social Media Volunteer

TADSA is looking for a Volunteer Digital and Social Media Coordinator to help tell the stories behind life-changing assistive technology projects – the kind you won’t find on store shelves.

You’ll work with real projects, real people and real impact, turning photos, videos and project data into content that helps older people and people with disability live more independently.

  • Perfect for students or early-career creatives
  • Hybrid + flexible (Gilles Plains + WFH)
  • Build your portfolio while doing genuine good

If you’re into social media, digital storytelling, design, marketing or communications, and want experience that actually means something, we’d love to hear from you.

About TADSA

Technology for Ageing and Disability (SA) Inc (TADSA) is a volunteer-run not-for-profit organisation, established in 1978 and based in Gilles Plains, South Australia. For over four decades, TADSA has supported children and adults with disability and older people by designing and building bespoke assistive technology solutions, often where no commercial or off-the-shelf products exist.

Our skilled volunteer craftspeople, technicians and engineers dedicate hundreds of hours using their own tools, workshops and expertise to create innovative, purpose-built solutions that enhance independence, safety and quality of life. TADSA also delivers inclusive mobility programs such as Freedom Wheels, supporting access to adaptive bikes and trikes across South Australia and regional communities.

About the Role

TADSA is seeking a passionate, capable and digitally confident volunteer to support and strengthen our digital presence, storytelling and community engagement.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining digital content, systems thinking and social impact, and who wants to use their skills to amplify the work of a unique, volunteer-led organisation. It is particularly well suited to a university student or graduate seeking hands-on experience in digital communications, marketing or media within the not-for-profit sector.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Content & Website Management

  • Monitor, maintain and update the TADSA website to ensure content remains current, accurate and engaging.
  • Curate and develop project gallery content by surveying TADSA’s centralised project database (including assistive technology and Freedom Wheels projects).
  • Translate technical project data into clear, accessible and audience-appropriate digital narratives.
  • Source, review and organise digital assets (imagery, video, supporting information) to produce polished, publication-ready project features.

Social Media and Digital Engagement

  • Plan and publish engaging content across Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, showcasing projects, events, regional outreach, ILC initiatives and community engagement.
  • Develop and maintain a robust and professional LinkedIn presence, growing TADSA’s network, reach and engagement.
  • Support digital promotion of events, partnerships and volunteering opportunities in a way that aligns with TADSA’s values and audience.
  • Ensure content is respectful, inclusive and reflects lived-experience perspectives.

Collaboration and Reporting

  • Work closely with the General Manager and volunteer teams to identify stories, milestones and priorities
  • Track and report on engagement and content performance (at a practical, fit-for-purpose level)

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to translate complex or technical information into compelling digital content.
  • Confidence using websites, content management systems and social media platforms.
  • An interest in digital storytelling, accessibility, inclusion or assistive technology.
  • Initiative, reliability and the ability to work independently.
  • A collaborative, respectful approach aligned with a volunteer-driven environment

Experience in marketing, communications, media, digital design or social media is highly regarded but not essential.

What TADSA Offers

  • Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options (office-based at Gilles Plains and work from home)
  • A supportive, friendly and purpose-driven volunteer environment
  • Meaningful, hands-on experience within a respected community organisation
  • Exposure to real-world projects with genuine social impact
  • Training and guidance on brand style and posting procedures.
  • Opportunity to gain practical experience, references and portfolio material

Additional Requirements

  • Adhere to confidentiality and privacy guidelines.
  • Compliance with organisational policies.
  • Working With Children Clearance
