To accommodate this need, our tech member integrated a solenoid-operated release system for the safety catch. The solenoid is strategically mounted to the frame and will function by using a wedge to lift the pin head, allowing for manual release from outside while providing an efficient method of folding down the rails from inside.
The control mechanism includes a fold-down handle affixed to the upper frame rail. This handle will serve dual purposes: it will house the release switch and facilitate quicker folding of the frame while also enabling users to lift it easily from a prone position.
To ensure safety during operation, particularly concerning fold-down speed, we incorporated a cable-operated door closer into this design. This addition is crucial as it regulates how quickly the frame can collapse, preventing any sudden drops that could lead to injuries or accidents. By implementing these features, we create a safer and more user-friendly experience for individuals utilizing full-length ‘fold down’ bed rails.
